A glimpse into Module 2
“Self-confidence builds when you try new things without fear of failure.” – Venkat Desireddy
This Module should help you understand:
The importance of trying new things
How to decide what new things you should try in the first place
Where can I find "new things"?
Lessons and Activities:
I am sure that you've probably heard it a thousand times, but you just HAVE to try new things to know what you like and don't like to do. Though trying new things can help you in a number of ways, you need to know the benefits of trying new things in the context of passion projects. Let's make this really simple:
Lesson 1: Why does "trying new things" matter?
When you try new things and engage with new activities, it becomes easier and easier for you to engage with your most prominent areas of interest because you can identify them so much more easily.
Lesson 2: "Which activities should I try?"
In short: Try all the activities that are accessible to you.
- Try to experience activities that expose you to new ideas in new fields
- Look into local workshops, job shadowing opportunities, free courses, talk to local professionals in the field, etc.
Lesson 3: "Where can I find new things?"
Here are some useful tips:
- Do a little bit of research - Your local universities or businesses will likely have workshops, courses, or shadowing options for students or adults to engage with. This can be a great way to look for new activities!
- Make a list of your personal areas of interest (sports, STEM, humanities, writing, law, business, design, the arts, etc.) and use them to GUIDE your research process.
Hope these tips help. More coming soon!
